Black Star Gate: After breakfast, depart in an air-conditioning vehicle, beginning your Accra city tour at the Black Star Gate, and the iconic Independence Square. Witness the historic struggle for Ghana’s independence, and hear the inspiring stories behind these historical monuments.

Explore its 7 suspended bridges built in 1994, – about 130ft above ground level. Embark on a nature walk in the 360 kmsq regenerated rainforest, containing a wide range of nocturnal animals with over 500 butterfly species and offering pleasurable birdwatching.
Elmina Castle Tour: Built in 1482 by Portuguese traders. Explore its fascinating history and learn about the lives of those who walked these corridors centuries ago. Horror lurked in every corner – from the condemned cell to the grim male and female dungeons topped ironically by the Church of England.
Cape Coast Castle Tour: Built in 1653, this castle was the main historical hub, where slaves were kept before loaded onto ships and sold in the Americas/ Caribbean. Discover the dark past of this iconic fortress and the role it played in the transatlantic slave trade. Itinerary Description: Miawoezor (welcome) to Volta-Ghana, home to numerous ethnic groups with rich Ewe history. The Ewe people are renowned for their vibrant traditions, including music, dance and spirituality. Traditional beliefs, such as veneration of ancestors and spirits, play a significant role in daily life. Witness the beauty of Lake Volta with a scenic boat ride, embrace Mt. Gemi, the highest human settlement in Ghana to enjoy a close-knit way of life in the heart of
nature. Conquer the heights of Afadjato during an invigorating hike, and marvel at the cascading wonder of Wli Waterfall.
ITINERARY:
Depart Accra for Akosombo Lake Volta: Drive and arrive at the picturesque Adomi. Here, you’ll experience a delightful boat ride on the crystal waters of Lake Volta, one of the largest human-made lakes in the world. Walk across the famous Adomi bridge and the journey continues to Amedzofe.
Discover Amedzofe – the Village in the Sky: Eat lunch, explore Mount. Gemi at Amedzofe, a hidden gem in Volta, standing as the highest human settlement in Ghana. Next is a Canopy Walk through the lush treetops, offering panoramic views of the landscape with the Ote Waterfall in a close backdrop. After this hike, descend to Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary & Cultural Village and get close to the friendly Mona monkeys in their natural habitat.
Marvel at Wli Waterfall: Take a leisurely walk through lush forests, crossing nine-footbridges over the Agumatsa River, and reach the Wli Waterfall, the tallest (60 meters) in West Africa.

After breakfast, hike Afadjato – the highest peak in Ghana, standing at approximately 885 meters (2,904ft a.s.l.). Ascend its slopes and take in the beautiful views of the evergreen flora. At the summit, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic vistas that stretch as deep as the gaze allows. After the hike, travel to Kpalime, Togo. Eat lunch, begin a guided tour of an eco-village, and explore Vial Castle, built in 1913, in the hills overlooking Kpalime. Tonight in Kpalime, participate in a traditional voodoo drum and dance, where ancient rituals come to life through intricate movements and powerful beats, invoking spirits and celebrating cultural heritage.

After breakfast, start your day by visiting the Slave House at Agbodrafo. Constructed in 1835 by a Scottish slave trader, the Mission d’Esclaves was one of the last slave trading institutions before the abolition of slavery.
Enjoy local Togolese cuisine for lunch – often includes a combination of grains, vegetables, meats, and spices, creating a symphony of flavours.
After lunch, take a local boat ride to Togo Ville’s main attraction: a German Cathedral constructed in 1910. It is adorned with paintings of African saints and features a statue of Our Lady of Lake Togo, the village’s patron saint. Experience the essence of Togo’s maritime heritage as we sail towards Togo Ville, where every ripple tells a cultural story.
A brief stop in Aneho, where Lake Togo meets the sea. Once a slave port and commercial centre, Aneho served as the capital of German-Togoland from 1885 to 1887 and during the French occupation from 1914 to 1920.
Dinner & Overnight in Lome
Enjoy breakfast and discover Lome, the vibrant capital city of Togo, celebrated for its palmfringed Atlantic shoreline. Your exploration kicks off with a visit to the Independence Monument, erected to commemorate Togo’s liberation from France on April 27, 1960. Venture to the esteemed Togo National Museum, established in 1975, where a treasure trove of artefacts spanning millennia awaits.
Next, explore Akodessewa Fetish Market, renowned as the largest voodoo market. Here, you’ll encounter an array of items integral to traditional voodoo practices, from monkey heads and skulls to crocodile skins and dry chameleons and even more. You may have the opportunity to glean insights into local traditional beliefs from a practicing fetish priest.
Return to Accra for Airport transfer or for your onward journey. Your guide will address concerns, farewell – end of tour.
