Built in 1482 by Portuguese traders, is a place where echoes of the past reverberate through its walls. Explore the castle’s fascinating history and learn about the lives of those who walked these corridors centuries ago. Horror lurked in every corner – from the condemned cell to the grim male and female dungeons topped ironically by the Church of England. You’ll experience the forbidding “palaver hall” where slaves were sorted and branded with hot metals. You get to witness the door of no return, and some forts in yonder.

Cape Coast Castle: Journey to the renowned Cape Coast Castle built in 1653, where even more history awaits. This castle was the main historical hub, where slaves were kept before they were loaded onto ships and sold in the Americas/ Caribbean through the Gate of No Return. If you are of black slave descent, there is a strong possibility your ancestors left Africa here.
